About the role#
The Advanced Materials Engineering group within the Mechanical Center of Excellence is seeking a motivated student for a part-time internship during the Fall 2026 semester. This role provides practical experience in material science, metrology, mechanical testing, and data management while supporting HVAC and refrigeration technology projects. You will work approximately 10 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate your academic schedule.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering analyses, data reduction, and technical evaluations for HVAC components and systems.
- Assist with laboratory testing, including test setup, instrumentation, data collection, and documentation of results.
- Develop and improve analytical tools, models, calculations, and workflows using engineering software and digital tools.
- Contribute to development activities involving materials, refrigerant systems, and controls to improve product performance and reliability.
- Support digital operations by organizing data, developing dashboards, and documenting processes.
- Collaborate with engineers, lab personnel, and cross-functional teams to complete assigned tasks and communicate findings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program or higher in Chemical, Materials, or any Engineering field.
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
- Interest in engineering analysis, laboratory testing, and continuous improvement activities.
- Familiarity with engineering software, spreadsheets, data visualization, coding, or modeling tools.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to learning.
