About the role#
The Heat Transfer Group within the Mechanical Center of Excellence is seeking a student for a part-time co-op position during the Fall 2026 term. This role provides practical experience in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics while supporting the development of HVAC and refrigeration equipment. The position requires a commitment of 10 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Support laboratory test rigs to characterize the performance of enhanced heat transfer surfaces and components.
- Use engineering software, including MATLAB and EES, to perform data reduction and heat transfer analysis.
- Develop heat transfer and pressure drop correlations for single-phase, condensing, and evaporating conditions.
- Apply advanced simulation tools to evaluate the system-level impacts of new heat transfer components.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in an Engineering field.
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Self-driven and proactive work ethic.
- Preferred: Coursework in thermodynamics, fluids, and heat transfer.
