Career Counselor - College of Engineering - SV Career Services and Student Affairs

About the role#

The Career Counselor for the College of Engineering at the Silicon Valley campus provides individualized coaching to students to support their internship and full-time job searches. This role involves guiding students through resume and cover letter development, job search strategies, networking, interviewing, and offer negotiation.

What you'll do#

• Develop and facilitate workshops and presentations on career development and employment preparation.
• Provide career counseling to students and alumni through the administration and interpretation of vocational tests and inventories.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with employers through direct correspondence, professional organizations, and conferences.
• Create and organize career-related programs, including job fairs and graduate school events.
• Act as a liaison between the Career Center and university offices, such as Student Employment, the Dean of Student Affairs, and academic departments.
• Respond to inquiries from students, alumni, and employers while troubleshooting career-related issues.
• Write and edit career-related publications, including newsletters, brochures, and reports.

What you'll need#

• A Bachelor’s Degree.
• 1-3 years of experience in career counseling or planning, or a combination of education and relevant experience demonstrating comparable knowledge.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to interact with a varied population of internal and external partners.
• Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
• Successful completion of a background check.
