Carnegie Mellon University is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach to join the Department of Athletics. This is a full-time, 12-month recurring position based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The role supports the intercollegiate softball program through coaching, recruiting, and student-athlete development.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct oversight and development for a specific portion of the program, such as infield, hitting, or pitching staff.
- Plan, conduct, and evaluate practice sessions and teach position-specific skills during both traditional and non-traditional seasons.
- Assist with recruitment efforts, including coordinating materials, maintaining contact with prospective student-athletes, and planning campus visits.
- Monitor the academic performance, progress, and class attendance of student-athletes.
- Coordinate team travel logistics, including transportation, meal arrangements, and itineraries for off-campus games.
- Promote and lead community service activities for student-athletes.
- Teach courses within the Physical Education program.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 1-3 years of athletic coaching or leadership experience.
- Collegiate experience as a player is preferred.
- Ability to pass a successful background check and obtain child protection clearances.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated understanding of softball progressions and drills.
- Experience with recruitment at an academically selective institution.
