About the role#
CarGurus is seeking an analytical student to join the Finance team as a Finance AI Solutions Intern. You will identify repetitive, data-intensive tasks and pilot AI and automation solutions to improve accuracy and speed. You will own a high-impact project while gaining exposure to Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Finance Operations, and Procurement. This role provides an opportunity to learn how a public company evaluates new technology for security, scalability, and accuracy.
What you'll do#
- Partner with a Finance team to map manual workflows and identify opportunities for AI, automation, or analytics.
- Build and test prototypes using LLMs, Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, or workflow-automation platforms.
- Conduct research and analysis for use cases including reconciliations, variance analysis, exception review, and invoice data extraction.
- Validate outputs with process owners and document assumptions, limitations, and measurable impact.
- Support stakeholders in documenting guardrails for AI-assisted workflows, including human review and audit trails.
- Work with partners across Finance, Sales Operations, Collections, and Finance Systems to understand data flows.
- Present project outcomes, recommendations, and business impact to Finance leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Eligible to complete a full-time summer internship.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets and comfort working with structured data.
- Curiosity about AI and automation with an interest in finance, accounting, or data-driven decision making.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed work style.
- Preferred: Coursework or experience involving data analysis, prompt design, or workflow automation.
- Preferred: Experience using AI tools to research, analyze data, or streamline tasks.
- Preferred: Familiarity with CRM, ERP, billing, or BI systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Zuora, or Looker.
- Preferred: Exposure to internal controls, audit, risk, or compliance concepts.

- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
- CarGurus operates on a hybrid model, requiring presence in the Boston office approximately three days per week.
