About the role#
As an EH&S Intern at Carboline, you will work on-site at our Lake Charles facility during the summer of 2027. This full-time role focuses on supporting our safety culture through hands-on tasks and direct engagement with our teams. You will gain experience in industrial safety and manufacturing while contributing to projects that improve workplace health and safety.
What you'll do#
- Conduct safety audits, walkthroughs, and reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
- Assist with the preparation, scheduling, and delivery of safety training sessions.
- Interact with team leaders and employees to promote safety and health awareness.
- Maintain and stock PPE and first aid equipment to ensure compliance.
- Track and organize safety training records and databases.
- Support incident investigations and contribute to corrective action plans.
- Lead or participate in Employee Safety Advocate meetings.
- Assist in the development and revision of safety policies and procedures.
- Champion our commitment to safety and quality.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: completion of at least 30 credit hours.
- Experience or interest in manufacturing, industrial safety, or industrial hygiene.
- Availability to work 30 to 40 hours per week from May through August 2027.
- Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn.
Location & details#
- Location: Lake Charles, Louisiana.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift or move up to 15 pounds, occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, and the ability to work in a setting with moderate noise levels. You will need to wear proper footwear and PPE during visits to the production floor.
- Housing: You must arrange your own housing in or near Lake Charles, as a housing allowance is not provided.
