About the role#
Capilano University is looking for mentors to build supportive relationships with students in the Education and Employment Access Program. You will encourage students, share experiences, and help them build confidence as they work toward their academic, personal, and employment goals. This role is open to students in Psychology, Sociology, or Communications.
What you'll do#
- Meet with students weekly to establish rapport and a working relationship.
- Support students in accessing campus services and navigating the campus.
- Help students solve problems that interfere with their success.
- Attend a mentor orientation and training session in September.
- Participate in monthly meetings.
- Keep records and other information as requested by the mentor coordinator.
- Communicate concerns to the faculty supervisor in a timely manner.
What you'll need#
- A sincere desire to support and encourage EEA students to achieve their goals.
- Ability to communicate with young adults openly and without judgment.
- Strong listening skills.
- Ability to build a relationship based on respect and mentorship.
- You must be in good academic standing with a GPA of at least 2.0.
Location & details#
- This position is located in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
- The term runs from Fall 2026 through Winter 2027 (September 3, 2026, to April 30, 2027).
- This is a paid, on-site, part-time student employee position.
