About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in the delivery of mental health services. You will work directly with clients to support their behavioral health and family support needs. This position is unpaid and intended for students seeking academic credit. You must have an established contract between your academic institution and Canopy Children's Solutions to participate.
What you'll do#
- Assist in delivering mental health services, including individual and family therapy.
- Gain experience with clinical interventions tailored to specific client needs.
- Participate in the assessment and planning process for clients.
- Manage case documentation.
- Complete specific goals as defined by your university and site supervisor.
- Attend a mandatory orientation and training session at the start of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, Human Resources, or Sociology degree program.
- Good academic standing at an accredited institution.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Maturity and the ability to work independently.
- Comfort working with diverse families.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 100 hours unless your contract specifies otherwise.
