About the role#
As a Software Controls Engineering Intern, you will join the engineering team responsible for the design and manufacturing of outboard and sterndrive motors. You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects that support the development of marine propulsion technology. This role offers the chance to manage assigned tasks from start to finish while gaining hands-on experience in a professional manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Develop and analyze control algorithms using Simulink and MATLAB.
- Test embedded software on target controllers, simulation boards, and engines or boats.
- Assist Control Software Engineers with user interfaces for ad hoc tests and displays.
- Write MATLAB scripts for data analysis and capture.
- Document findings in reports and update existing control software documentation.
- Consult with internal departments, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical problems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Electrical, Software, Computer, or Controls Engineering.
- Minimum second semester sophomore status with at least 48 completed credits.
- Ability to work hands-on with hardware like embedded controllers and test tools including oscilloscopes.
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) from May through August 2027.
