About the role#
This internship provides experience in healthcare claims, insurance, data analysis, and auditing. You will work with the Audit Team to review medical claim documentation and assist with stop loss claim audits. The role is remote and requires approximately 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling.
What you'll do#
- Review and audit specific stop loss claim submissions.
- Validate claim documentation and supporting records for accuracy.
- Analyze medical and pharmaceutical claims data.
- Identify claim discrepancies, overpayments, and audit findings.
- Use Excel and Microsoft Office to organize, analyze, and report data.
- Help auditors prepare client reports and audit summaries.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects.
- Maintain confidentiality of protected health information and sensitive client data.
- Communicate with team members about audit findings and project status.
What you'll need#
- Current sophomore status in college pursuing a degree in Healthcare or a Science-related field.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Familiarity with healthcare claims processing or medical billing is helpful.
- Experience with Excel formulas, sorting, filtering, and pivot tables.
- Exposure to healthcare reimbursement methodologies like Medicare, DRG, or RBRVS.
- Experience with Microsoft Access or other database applications is a plus.
- Previous coursework or internship experience in healthcare, insurance, auditing, or claims administration.
