Breakthrough T1D is seeking a Full-Time Research Summer Intern for the Summer 2026 term. This role focuses on the Cell Therapy program, specifically assessing methods used to measure insulin-producing cell function. The intern will support the development of harmonized guidelines for these assays to improve comparability across research programs.
What you'll do#
- Interface with leading researchers in the islet cell replacement field.
- Survey literature databases to identify current methods and procedures.
- Synthesize, analyze, and present data to help establish recommended guidelines for the field.
- Gain exposure to a wide range of scientific projects within the Breakthrough T1D research portfolio, with an emphasis on cell therapy and islet transplantation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a relevant field of study, such as Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Public Health, Biomedical Engineering, or Data Science.
- Familiarity or interest in biomedical research, with a focus on Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).
- Strong communication skills to conduct informational interviews with researchers.
- Experience working with NLM NCBI PubMed.
