About the role#
The Human Resources Intern provides administrative and operational support to our HR department. You will gain hands-on experience in recruiting, onboarding, data management, and payroll. This role is designed to give you practical exposure to HR processes while you contribute to the daily operations of the team.
What you'll do#
- Maintain and update employee records and HR databases while ensuring confidentiality.
- Assist with onboarding activities, including preparing paperwork and supporting new hire orientation.
- Support payroll administration by verifying attendance and timekeeping records.
- Review resumes and schedule interviews with candidates.
- Manage job postings across company pages and external boards.
- Assist with recruitment events, career fairs, and workforce development initiatives.
- Prepare HR reports, presentations, and spreadsheets for various metrics.
- Answer employee questions regarding company policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Maintain personnel files in compliance with legal requirements and company policy.
- Support employee engagement, recognition, and wellness programs.
- Distribute HR communications and participate in special projects.
What you'll need#
- Junior-level standing or higher in a Bachelor's degree program, specifically in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Psychology.
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources.
- A basic understanding of HR principles, employment practices, and recruiting.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- A professional, customer-service oriented attitude.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Experience with HRIS, Applicant Tracking Systems, or database management is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of employment laws and regulations is preferred.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Mount Jackson, Virginia.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
- You will work in an office environment and on the production floor.
- Be prepared to work near production equipment, which may involve exposure to noise, heat, or humidity. Personal Protective Equipment is required in these areas.
- You must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
