About the role#
BorgWarner is seeking an Electronics Hardware Design Intern to join our Summer 2027 internship program. You will work closely with our engineering team to support the design, characterization, and testing of automotive power conversion products. This role focuses on power electronics for hybrid and electric vehicles.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the electrical design, simulation, and analysis of power electronics circuits and systems.
- Perform electrical debug, testing, characterization, and verification of designs.
- Help specify, identify, and test critical electrical components.
- Support the product development team with technical design analysis, trade-off studies, and design reviews.
- Use electronic lab equipment to build, analyze, and verify designs, including embedded controller verification, thermal testing, and electromagnetic compatibility testing.
- Develop an understanding of vehicle system components that interface with power electronics subsystems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers to aid in product development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, or recent graduation.
- A major in Electrical Engineering. Students pursuing a Master’s degree or PhD with a focus on Power Electronics are preferred.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Knowledge of modeling, simulating, or circuit design.
- A strong interest in the automotive or power electronics fields.
- Experience in power electronics through research programs, organizations, or previous internships is preferred.
