Music Library Assistant (Student)

About the role#

The Music Library Assistant provides essential support for library operations, ensuring resources are accessible and the environment remains conducive to study and research. This part-time position requires 6-8 hours of work per week, with additional hours as needed.

What you'll do#

• Greet customers and provide assistance with research and library resources.
• Manage circulation desk transactions, including collecting fines and loaning headphones.
• Maintain course reserves and retrieve CDs, DVDs, and other materials for circulation.
• Assist patrons with copier and printer use, internet access, and GFAC door key check-outs.
• Organize the collection by shelving books, musical scores, CDs, DVDs, and periodicals, and performing general maintenance to keep the area neat.
• Support the fine arts department with special projects as requested.
• Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a student at Bob Jones University.
• Familiarity with basic musical terms and genres.
• Proficiency in using computers for basic circulation services and internet research.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding filing and organization.
• Prior customer service experience or a strong customer service orientation.
