About the role#
As a Commercial Banking Credit Analyst Intern at BMO, you will develop financial analysis and credit assessment skills while working alongside experienced Commercial Bankers. You will contribute to projects, assess risk, and learn how the bank partners with businesses to fuel growth. This is a full-time, paid internship based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, running from May 3, 2027, to August 13, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Analyze credit information to support lending decisions and processes.
- Perform financial analysis and calculations to make recommendations.
- Support portfolio monitoring and ensure compliance with policies.
- Assess industry trends to identify risks and opportunities.
- Prepare detailed credit summaries and support proposals or presentations.
- Build and maintain client relationships while managing service requests.
- Structure new, renewal, and extension loans.
- Identify revenue, cross-selling, and share of wallet opportunities.
- Manage accurate data entry and use analysis tools to nurture portfolio growth.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate degree program with a graduation date of Spring 2028.
- A preferred minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0.
- At least two undergraduate finance and accounting classes or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- A detail-oriented approach and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work as part of a team and build relationships.
- Relevant experience in credit, lending instruments, or financial operations is an asset.
