Intern, Corporate Communications (Durham, NC)

About the role#

This summer internship offers hands-on experience within the Corporate Communications team at BioCryst Pharmaceuticals. You will gain exposure to internal and external communications, event planning, and execution within the biotechnology industry. This is a full-time, paid position designed to provide real-world experience across the corporate communications spectrum.

What you'll do#

• Develop content for the global intranet, including news articles, department pages, and program updates.
• Support the development of the biweekly employee newsletter.
• Manage the company-wide mass email coordination calendar.
• Collaborate with departments across diverse locations to ensure a global perspective in internal communications.
• Assist in coordinating all-employee meetings and internal events, including pre-meeting setup, agenda development, slide creation, and post-meeting communications.
• Proofread documents and edit content to ensure it is tailored for the appropriate audience and platform.
• Maintain internal platforms and organizational trackers, such as media touchpoint logs.
• Conduct research to support ongoing communications activities and monitor industry news.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related discipline with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as a self-starter.
• Flexibility to adapt quickly as priorities change.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work 30-40 hours per week during the summer term.
