About the role#
The Life Enrichment Intern supports resident well-being through intentional, person-centered programming. This role offers hands-on experience in aging services, wellness, and therapeutic recreation. You will participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs while completing a capstone project that impacts the lives of residents at Hoosier Village.
What you'll do#
- Build one-on-one relationships with residents through regular interaction and conversation.
- Assist in the facilitation of daily group and individual programs focused on wellness.
- Collaborate with the Life Enrichment team to develop and lead programs based on resident interests.
- Interview residents to gather life history documentation.
- Observe and document resident participation in electronic health records.
- Take ownership of a capstone project that supports resident quality of life.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to enrichment planning and brainstorming.
- Work with staff and volunteers to support community events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree program in gerontology, therapeutic recreation, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, human services, or a related field.
- Majors considered include Psychology, Human Resources, Public Health, Nursing, Sociology, Graphic Design, and Communications.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and email.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A desire to work with older adults.
- Willingness to maintain confidentiality and professional behavior.
