About the role#
As a Merchandise Planning & Analysis intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the retail industry. Over the course of this 10-week summer program, you will shadow a Planner to learn how to manage a multi-million-dollar business. You will participate in professional development workshops and gain exposure to senior leadership while learning the complexities of a large department store.
What you'll do#
- Manage a multi-million-dollar business to drive profitability for your department.
- Analyze business trends and compare location sales to identify inventory successes and opportunities.
- Generate reports and analyze business results to support the team.
- Monitor product performance by tracking key performance indicators.
- Research product trends and provide insights on growth opportunities.
- Extract data from financial systems to support business decisions.
- Participate in monthly reviews, seasonal financial planning, and store planning.
- Assist with optimizing inventory by store to create profitable assortments.
- Research the competitive market and make recommendations to maximize business opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Rising college senior status, graduating in December 2027 or Spring 2028.
- Pursuing a degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Strong academic record, with a GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel and MS Office, including formulas, functions, and reporting.
- Analytical skills and a passion for solving problems.
- Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and take action.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Previous retail experience and knowledge of retail math are preferred.

- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is based on-site at our corporate office in Charlotte, North Carolina.
- This position takes place during the Summer 2027 term.
