About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to support patients in achieving a drug-free existence under the guidance of experienced counselors. Interns assist patients in identifying personal strengths and setting social, educational, and occupational goals while adhering to state and federal regulations governing addiction counseling.
What you'll do#
- Conduct group counseling sessions as required.
- Orient patients to treatment program operations and procedures.
- Maintain complete and organized patient records.
- Provide crisis intervention and support services.
- Collaborate with case-management services for appropriate referrals.
- Support new patients with intake and readmission services, including follow-up counseling.
- Attend and complete all required training sessions.
- Comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Ensure prompt and regular attendance at the assigned work location.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
- Currently pursuing counseling licensure and utilizing internship hours to meet requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage variable workloads and periodic high stress levels.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods and perform standard office tasks including keyboarding.
