About the role#
Beck's Hybrids is hiring a Practical Farm Research Intern for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, on-site, paid position based in Colfax, Iowa. You will work from early May through early August. The role involves hands-on experience across several research modules, including planting, data collection, plot identification, and production agriculture.
What you'll do#
- Organize seed, plant, clean out meter units, and flag or stake plots.
- Collect, report, and analyze stand count data.
- Thin plots to reach desired populations.
- Compare fungicide treatments, insecticide treatments, and other agronomic variables.
- Design and map test plots.
- Install signs and stakes on plots.
- Provide agronomic support for sales staff.
- Ride along with the Location Lead on customer calls to evaluate product performance.
- Diagnose agronomic issues and evaluate hybrid performance in the field.
What you'll need#
- Undergraduate course work in an agriculture-related field.
- A valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
- A Chauffer license or equivalent may be required.
- A farm background and general farm knowledge are helpful.
- All offers of employment are contingent upon passing a drug test and background check.
