About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will work with experienced professionals to prepare tax returns and extensions. This role provides hands-on experience with firm practices and helps you build professional relationships. You will support our client base while developing your technical skills in a team environment.
What you'll do#
- Prepare tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimates.
- Assist with IRS notice responses and year-end filing projections.
- Apply FAS 109 and FIN 48 policies to tax accruals.
- Use tax software and online research tools to gather information.
- Organize files and use workpapers to minimize rework.
- Monitor tax law and client developments to help maximize client benefits.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Take initiative on due dates and engagement letters.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
- Pursuing a masters degree is preferred.
