About the role#
The Tax Intern in Core Tax Services will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to prepare tax returns and extensions. This full-time internship provides hands-on experience with firm practices and offers the chance to build professional relationships while supporting our client base.
What you'll do#
- Ensure clients comply with tax authorities while minimizing their reporting burdens.
- Prepare simple tax returns using tax software applications.
- Perform quarterly estimates and prepare extensions.
- Assist with income tax provisions and projections for year-end filings.
- Respond to notices from the Internal Revenue Service.
- Organize files and use referencing systems to minimize rework.
- Monitor tax law developments and communicate findings to the client service team.
- Use online research tools to gather pertinent tax information.
- Apply firm policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Track impending due dates and engagement letters.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Preference for candidates pursuing a masters degree in Accounting or with leadership experience.
