Co-op or Intern, Indirect Tax

About the role#

BDO Canada is seeking a Co-op or Intern student to join the Indirect Tax team for a 4-month work term beginning in September 2026. This role focuses on supporting the team through data automation, workflow development, and process improvement within the financial services sector.

What you'll do#

• Develop and maintain data workflows for tax processing and compliance mapping.
• Translate business and compliance requirements into structured workflows and data transformation logic.
• Build, test, and refine automated processes to ensure accuracy, scalability, and consistency.
• Work with large, complex datasets to clean, transform, and standardize information.
• Participate in meetings with internal stakeholders to clarify data and reporting requirements.
• Support the automation of repetitive tasks using tools such as Power Automate.
• Contribute ideas to improve existing processes and support initiatives involving data analysis and emerging technologies.

What you'll need#

• Currently working towards a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related program.
• Experience with data processing, including exposure to Python, SQL, or VBA.
• Experience working with Excel for data analysis or automation.
• Comfort working with both structured and unstructured data.
• Ability to translate ambiguous problems into structured technical solutions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn new platforms and adapt to team tools quickly.

• Positions available in Oakville, Markham, and Toronto, Ontario.
• Term: Fall 2026 (4 months).
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $54,000 - $64,000 annually (pro-rated for the term).
• Employment Type: Full-time.
