Student Worker - Undergraduate Writing Consultant

About the role#

The Center for Writing Excellence is seeking undergraduate students to serve as Writing Consultants. This role involves working one-on-one with students from various academic backgrounds to provide support throughout the writing process. This position is designed to help consultants develop communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

What you'll do#

• Work one-on-one with students at every stage of the writing process, including brainstorming, researching, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing.
• Provide support with argument, thesis, audience, purpose, evidence, organization, grammar, and style.
• Assist writers across a wide range of disciplines and genres, such as research papers, lab reports, proposals, resumes, and personal statements.
• Document sessions through notes and implement feedback to support your professional growth.
• Participate in a paid orientation and training program, which includes regular staff meetings, peer observations, and mentoring.
• Collaborate with directors on special projects, outreach, and presentations.

Location & details#

• Location: Waco, Texas (Moody Library).
• Term: Fall 2027.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Minimum 7 hours per week, maximum 20 hours per week.
• Compensation: Paid position ($10.00/hr).
