Student Worker - Sports Official - BC

About the role#

This position involves officiating sports games and supporting recreational activities at the Greater Waco YMCA. You will help maintain a safe environment for participants while assisting with the operational needs of various sports programs.

What you'll do#

• Officiate all assigned games, including sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, and baseball.
• Ensure playing areas remain safe and clear of obstructions.
• Assist with the set-up and take-down of sports equipment.
• Serve as a scorekeeper and participate in demonstrations or clinics as needed.
• Maintain required records and document any injuries or incidents according to emergency procedures.
• Supervise and interact positively with large groups of participants.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of rules and policies for various sports and a general understanding of fitness and wellness.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
• Ability to commit to at least two seasons of sports.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or a willingness to obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
• Ability to pass a reference check, background check, and drug screen.

Location & details#

• Location: Waco, Texas.
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: 5-10 hours per week, with required availability on weeknights and weekends.
• Compensation: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour.
