Student Worker - ROCK Staff - BC

About the role#

The ROCK Staff student worker supports the Outdoor Adventure program at Baylor University. This role focuses on maintaining a safe climbing environment, providing instruction, and assisting with the daily operations of the facility. You will work under the guidance of the Outdoor Adventure staff to ensure equipment is well-maintained and that all participants receive excellent service.

What you'll do#

• Provide customer service, including climbing instruction, belaying, and ensuring proper gear usage.
• Manage the cleaning, care, and upkeep of equipment at the ROCK and the surrounding area.
• Perform specialized business or operational functions to support departmental goals.
• Assist with various projects, activities, and tasks as assigned.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance and comply with all university policies.

What you'll need#

• A positive, assertive, and energetic attitude with the ability to address peers regarding safety in potentially difficult situations.
• Initiative, enthusiasm, and a commitment to the Outdoor Adventure program.
• Previous experience in rock climbing, belaying, and customer service is preferred but not required.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a team environment.

Location & details#

• Location: McLane Student Life Center, Waco, Texas.
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
• Pay: $10 per hour, with opportunities for incremental increases based on skill development, certifications, and leadership.
• Term: Ongoing, rolling employment.
