Student Worker - ROCK Staff - BC

About the role#

This position supports the Outdoor Adventure program at the McLane Student Life Center. Student workers contribute to the daily operations of the climbing wall, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for the university community. This is a paid, on-site role with an ongoing, rolling term.

What you'll do#

• Manage customer service needs, including providing climbing instruction, belaying, and enforcing safety protocols.
• Oversee the cleaning, maintenance, and proper storage of all climbing equipment and the surrounding area.
• Perform general business operations and assist with various projects and tasks related to the department.
• Maintain a positive and professional presence while interacting with clients and peers.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a student, with a preference for majors in Kinesiology, Real Estate, or Psychology.
• A positive, assertive, and energetic attitude with the ability to address peers in difficult or potentially unsafe situations.
• Ability to show initiative, enthusiasm, and support for the Outdoor Adventure program.
• While previous rock climbing, belaying, and customer service experience is preferred, it is not required.

Location & details#

• Location: McLane Student Life Center, Waco, Texas.
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM; Saturday and Sunday, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
• Compensation: $10 per hour, with opportunities for incremental pay increases through skills development and leadership.
