Student Worker - Office Assistant-Medical Humanities

About the role#

The Medical Humanities Department at Baylor University is seeking a student assistant to support daily administrative operations. As a primary point of contact, you will represent the department to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and healthcare professionals. This role requires maintaining strict confidentiality regarding departmental records and conversations while fostering a professional and welcoming office environment.

What you'll do#

• Greet and assist visitors, faculty, and students in a professional manner.
• Manage daily office tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, filing, scanning, and copying.
• Support faculty with course-related tasks, including entering grades and attendance in Canvas and preparing instructional materials.
• Maintain the office space, including organizing shared areas and restocking supplies.
• Design promotional materials and event flyers using Canva.
• Assist with departmental events and contribute to social media initiatives by creating content and taking photographs.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a Medical Humanities major or minor.
• Knowledge of the Medical Humanities curriculum and degree requirements.
• Proficiency in Canva, Canvas, Outlook, and social media platforms.
• Strong organizational skills, dependability, and a creative approach to tasks.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and adhere to office policies.

Location & details#

• Location: Waco, Texas (On-site at BSB D108).
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Schedule: Minimum of 10 hours per week, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
• Compensation: Paid at $9.00 per hour.
