About the role#
The Medical Humanities Department at Baylor University is seeking a student assistant to support daily administrative operations. As a primary point of contact, you will represent the department to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and healthcare professionals. This role requires maintaining strict confidentiality regarding departmental records and conversations while fostering a professional and welcoming office environment.
What you'll do#
- Greet and assist visitors, faculty, and students in a professional manner.
- Manage daily office tasks such as answering phones, responding to emails, filing, scanning, and copying.
- Support faculty with course-related tasks, including entering grades and attendance in Canvas and preparing instructional materials.
- Maintain the office space, including organizing shared areas and restocking supplies.
- Design promotional materials and event flyers using Canva.
- Assist with departmental events and contribute to social media initiatives by creating content and taking photographs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Medical Humanities major or minor.
- Knowledge of the Medical Humanities curriculum and degree requirements.
- Proficiency in Canva, Canvas, Outlook, and social media platforms.
- Strong organizational skills, dependability, and a creative approach to tasks.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and adhere to office policies.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas (On-site at BSB D108).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Schedule: Minimum of 10 hours per week, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
- Compensation: Paid at $9.00 per hour.
