Student Worker - Media and Public Relations Writer

About the role#

Baylor University’s Office of Media & Public Relations is seeking student writers for an ongoing role. This position is designed for undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in professional writing, journalism, or public relations. You will gain experience by working alongside staff in a professional office environment to manage the flow of news and information between the university and various media outlets.

What you'll do#

• Write news releases and feature stories.
• Provide marketing and communications support to your assigned area.
• Assist with projects, activities, and tasks related to marketing and communications.
• Support and implement marketing and communications strategies.
• Maintain records of university media placements.

What you'll need#

• Strong skills in writing, research, editing, and organization.
• Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Capacity to set, prioritize, and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Familiarity with editorial style guides, including AP style.
• A willingness to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively.
• Interest in marketing, public relations, social media, and communications.
• Enrollment as an undergraduate student.

Location & details#

• Location: Clifton Robinson Tower, Waco, Texas.
• Schedule: 10–12 hours per week, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. Shifts must be at least 3 hours long.
• Compensation: $9.00 per hour.
• Term: Spring/Fall ongoing.
