Student Worker - Mayborn Museum Spark Guide - BC

About the role#

As a Mayborn Museum Spark Guide, you will serve as a key member of the Museum Engagement Team. This role involves active, on-your-feet work across various museum areas, including the Traveling Exhibit Gallery, Play Waco, the Historic Village, and the Discovery Wing. You will focus on providing high-quality customer service while facilitating educational experiences that inspire visitors.

What you'll do#

• Staff high-traffic exhibit areas and facilitate hands-on activities created by education staff.
• Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service, answering questions about museum events and exhibits.
• Utilize interactive activities to help visitors connect with exhibit subject matter and foster learning.
• Monitor exhibit functionality and guest behavior, reporting any issues to supervisors.
• Maintain cleanliness and reset props in play areas.
• Exhibit professionalism in all interactions with visitors and co-workers.
• Attend monthly team trainings and maintain effective communication with the team.

What you'll need#

• Ability to complete written tasks and checklists.
• A genuine interest in interacting with children and adults of all ages and backgrounds.

• A respectful attitude toward visitors, supervisors, and co-workers.
• Professionalism, punctuality, and problem-solving skills.
• Majors in Communications, Psychology, or Human Resources are preferred.

Location & details#

• Location: Waco, Texas.
• Work Modality: On-site at the Mayborn Museum Complex.
• Schedule: Minimum of 5 hours per week during museum operating hours.
• Compensation: Paid position at $10.00 per hour.
