About the role#
As a Spark Guide, you will join the Museum Engagement Team to provide high-quality visitor experiences. This is an active, on-your-feet position that involves interacting with guests throughout the Mayborn Museum Complex, including the Traveling Exhibit, Play Waco, and various other exhibit areas. You will help foster curiosity and learning while ensuring the museum remains a welcoming environment for all visitors.
What you'll do#
- Staff high-traffic exhibit areas and facilitate hands-on educational activities created by the museum's education staff.
- Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service, including answering questions about museum history, exhibits, and events.
- Maintain exhibit spaces by resetting props, ensuring cleanliness, and monitoring exhibit functionality.
- Monitor guest behavior and report any issues to supervisors.
- Attend monthly, after-hours team trainings.
What you'll need#
- A genuine interest in interacting with children and adults of all ages and backgrounds.
- A team-oriented mindset and the ability to remain flexible and adaptable.
- A professional demeanor in all interactions with visitors, supervisors, and co-workers.
- Ability to complete written tasks and checklists.
- Preferred majors include History, Communications, or Psychology.

- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Modality: On-site at the Mayborn Museum Complex.
- Schedule: Minimum of 5 hours per week during museum operating hours.
- Employment type: Part-time, paid student position with rolling terms.
