About the role#
The Managing Editor oversees day-to-day operations for the LTVN staff and reports directly to the Executive Producer. This role involves managing staff communication, coordinating production workflows, and ensuring the quality of newscast content throughout the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Manage and communicate with LTVN staff on a daily basis.
- Oversee the newscast during production night each Thursday.
- Create the graphics list, finalize the rundown, and manage video and graphics servers.
- Edit newscast scripts for clarity, formatting, and precision.
- Produce and report 1-2 packages per month.
- Assist reporters with content development, storytelling, and editing.
- Produce a 15-20 second topical promo each Wednesday for message boards.
- Collaborate with the Executive Producer to train staff on video capture, audio tracking, and editing.
- Manage equipment inventory and report repair or replacement needs to the Director of Student Media.
- Represent LTVN in budget meetings, staff meetings, and weekly content feedback sessions.
- Handle business operations duties and maintain LTVN social media accounts.
What you'll need#

- Commitment to regular and punctual attendance.
- Ability to comply with all University policies.
- Preferred majors include Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media Studies, Business Administration, Graphic Design, Political Science, or Sociology.
Location & details#
- Location: Castellaw Communications Center, Waco, Texas.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 16 hours per week.
- Compensation: $9.00 per hour plus a $3,000 scholarship per semester.
