About the role#
The Executive Producer oversees the overall production of the LTVN Newscast and reports to the Director of Student Media. This position plays a key role in developing the broadcast strategy and leading the staff. The role requires a commitment of 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring terms.
What you'll do#
- Hire and supervise LTVN reporters, the Managing Editor, and the Sports Director.
- Conduct weekly LTVN meetings and communicate with the FDM production team on a weekly basis.
- Edit newscast scripts for clarity and precision.
- Produce and report 1 to 2 packages per month.
- Manage staff assignments, story pitches, and newscast deadlines.
- Direct newscasts and oversee the visual presentation of the broadcast.
- Collaborate with the Managing Editor to train staff on video capture, audio tracking, and editing.
- Represent LTVN in departmental meetings and handle business operations for the area.
What you'll need#
- Experience in video production.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and take initiative.
- Ability to comply with all University policies.
- Enrollment in a relevant field such as Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or Marketing.
Location & details#
- Location: Castellaw Communications Center, Waco, Texas.
- Schedule: 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $9.00 per hour plus a $4,500 scholarship per semester.
