Student Worker - Lifeguard - BC

About the role#

Baylor University is seeking a Student Worker Lifeguard to join the Campus Recreation team at the McLane Student Life Center. This position focuses on ensuring patron safety, maintaining facility cleanliness, and providing high-quality customer service to the university community.

What you'll do#

• Monitor the pool through proper scanning, perform water rescues, and provide first aid assistance when necessary.
• Enforce pool rules and safety procedures to ensure a secure environment for all patrons.
• Perform facility maintenance, including scrubbing tiles, cleaning the pool deck, raking sand volleyball courts, and conducting locker room safety checks.
• Monitor chemical levels and assist with general facility safety inspections.
• Participate in mandatory in-service training sessions to build teamwork and maintain professional skills.
• Provide customer service to clients and visitors while encouraging active and healthy living.

What you'll need#

• Current certification from Red Cross, Boy Scouts, NASCO, or Star Guard. Training is available for qualified candidates.
• Ability to maintain strong physical health through regular exercise and bi-weekly training.
• Capability to perform manual housekeeping and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to comply with university policies and maintain punctual attendance.
• Preference for students majoring in Kinesiology.

Location & details#

• Location: McLane Student Life Center, Waco, Texas.
• Schedule: Shifts are available Monday through Friday (mornings, afternoons, and evenings) and Saturday through Sunday (afternoons and evenings).
• Compensation: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour.
• Employment Type: Part-time, ongoing position.
