Student Worker - Lariat Advertising Sales Representative

About the role#

The Lariat Advertising Sales Representative role is a student position within the Baylor University Student Publications department. You will work as part of a team dedicated to selling advertising products across all Lariat platforms. This role requires on-site work at the Castellaw Communications Center in Waco, Texas.

What you'll do#

• Meet with local business owners, departmental directors, managers, and liaisons to discuss advertising opportunities.
• Provide strategic guidance to help clients identify effective solutions for reaching their target audiences.
• Actively identify new sales opportunities through prospecting and building client relationships.
• Manage a combination of in-person meetings, email communication, and phone outreach.
• Work independently to sell summer advertising products and assist with various marketing projects and tasks.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a student, ideally in Marketing or Business Administration.
• Strong initiative as a self-starter.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Creative reasoning and clear, professional communication abilities.

Location & details#

• Location: Castellaw Communications Center, Waco, TX.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week during the summer; 12 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.
• Compensation: $9.00 per hour, with a performance-based scholarship of $1,000 - $1,500 per semester for the academic year.
