Student Worker - Front Desk Assistant, Events Support

About the role#

The front desk assistant serves as the first point of contact for the Honors College Dean's Office. This role provides administrative support and assists with the logistics of college events, ensuring a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and visitors. This is a paid, on-site position for the Fall 2026 term requiring 10-12 hours of work per week.

What you'll do#

• Greet and direct students, faculty, and visitors arriving at the Dean's office.
• Answer, screen, and route incoming calls and respond to general inquiries.
• Maintain a tidy, organized, and welcoming reception area.
• Assist with administrative tasks, including monitoring mail, deliveries, and office supply levels.
• Support Honors College events, including info sessions and student engagement programs.
• Handle event logistics such as setup, breakdown, materials preparation, and day-of support.
• Assist with event communications and light promotion, such as updating signage and tracking RSVPs.

What you'll need#

• Must be a currently enrolled Honors College student in good academic standing.
• Friendly, professional demeanor with strong communication skills.
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Basic proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy periods.
• Comfort interacting with a wide range of people in person and over the phone.

Location & details#

• Location: Alexander Hall Dean's Suite, Waco, Texas.
• Schedule: 10-12 hours per week with flexibility around class schedules.
