Student Worker - Assistant Director of Media & Public Relations

About the role#

Baylor University’s Office of Media & Public Relations is seeking student writers to support the flow of news and information between the university and media outlets. This role provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to gain professional experience in journalism, public relations, and media communications while working alongside staff in a professional environment.

What you'll do#

• Write news releases and feature stories.
• Provide marketing and communications support to assigned areas.
• Assist with various projects, activities, and tasks related to marketing and communications.
• Support and execute marketing and communications strategies.
• Collaborate with staff and work independently on assigned tasks.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as an undergraduate student with an interest in communications, journalism, or marketing.
• Strong writing, research, editing, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with editorial style guides, including AP style.
• Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to set, prioritize, and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively.

Location & details#

• Location: Waco, Texas (Clifton Robinson Tower).
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: 10–12 hours per week, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. Shifts must be at least 3 hours long.
• Pay Rate: $9.00/hr.
• Term: Rolling/Ongoing.
