About the role#

The Lariat Cartoonist is a student position within the Student Publications department at Baylor University. This role is responsible for creating daily editorial cartoons and providing illustrations to support the publication's content. As a member of the editorial board, the cartoonist contributes to the department's marketing and communications goals.

What you'll do#

• Create a daily editorial cartoon.
• Provide illustrations using drawing or computer-generated art as needed.
• Attend weekly editorial board meetings.
• Assist with various projects, activities, and tasks related to marketing and communications.
• Support marketing and communications strategies and initiatives.
• Work both independently and collaboratively while taking initiative on assigned tasks.

What you'll need#

• Strong artistic sensibilities.
• A witty perspective and the ability to convey clear editorial messages through art.
• Proficiency in drawing or computer-generated illustration.
• Ability to comply with all University policies.
• Reliability in maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
• Majors in Graphic Design, Communications, or Art are preferred.

• Location: Castellaw Communications Center, Waco, Texas.
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: 12 hours per week.
• Compensation: $9.00 per hour.
