About the role#
The Lariat Cartoonist is a student role within the Student Publications department. You will serve as a member of the editorial board, contributing daily editorial cartoons and supplementary illustrations to support the publication's marketing and communication goals.
What you'll do#
- Attend weekly editorial board meetings.
- Create a daily editorial cartoon.
- Provide illustrations using hand-drawing or computer-generated art as needed.
- Assist with marketing and communications projects, tasks, and strategies.
- Collaborate with the team while maintaining the ability to work independently.
What you'll need#
- Strong artistic sensibilities and a witty perspective.
- Ability to clearly convey editorial messages through visual media.
- Initiative to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to regular, punctual attendance.
- Ability to comply with all university policies.
- Preferred background in Art, Graphic Design, or Communications.
Location & details#
- Location: Castellaw Communications Center, Waco, Texas.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Schedule: 12 hours per week.
- Compensation: $9.00 per hour.
