About the role#

The Lariat Cartoonist is a student role within the Student Publications department. You will serve as a member of the editorial board, contributing daily editorial cartoons and supplementary illustrations to support the publication's marketing and communication goals.

What you'll do#

• Attend weekly editorial board meetings.
• Create a daily editorial cartoon.
• Provide illustrations using hand-drawing or computer-generated art as needed.
• Assist with marketing and communications projects, tasks, and strategies.
• Collaborate with the team while maintaining the ability to work independently.

What you'll need#

• Strong artistic sensibilities and a witty perspective.
• Ability to clearly convey editorial messages through visual media.
• Initiative to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to regular, punctual attendance.
• Ability to comply with all university policies.
• Preferred background in Art, Graphic Design, or Communications.

Location & details#

• Location: Castellaw Communications Center, Waco, Texas.
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Schedule: 12 hours per week.
• Compensation: $9.00 per hour.
