Education and Volunteer Coordinator

About the role#

The Education and Volunteer Coordinator position supports community outreach and educational programs at the farm. This role involves working with external community service partners, training volunteers, and assisting with daily operations. This is a paid, part-time student worker position.

What you'll do#

• Educate, instruct, orient, and train volunteers and clients on topics including composting, sustainable agriculture, and food justice.
• Support community outreach and educational programs both on-farm and in the community.
• Perform administrative duties and maintain the organization of facilities.
• Assist with Farmers Market preparation and staffing, including customer service and group orientation.
• Maintain the Urban Homestead Garden and assist with compost pickups and sorting.
• Run routine errands as required for farm operations.

What you'll need#

• Ability to educate visitors of all ages about sustainable agricultural alternatives.
• Ability to facilitate volunteer and group learning experiences and work effectively within a team.
• Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs routinely.
• Previous office and educational experience is preferred.
• Preferred majors include Agriculture, Psychology, Communications, and Public Health.

Location & details#

• Location: Spring Lake Farm, Waco, Texas.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Term: Fall 2026, with rolling employment.
• Schedule: 8–20 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, with occasional Saturdays.
