About the role#
Balfour Beatty is seeking students for our Summer 2027 Internship Program in Washington. This is a full-time, paid position designed to provide hands-on experience in the construction industry. You will work on-site to support project teams and gain exposure to core operational processes.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project budget management by tracking expenditures and coordinating billings.
- Review submittal data and shop drawings to ensure they align with project schedules.
- Support Safety and Quality Control programs by learning how to address site issues.
- Monitor status reports, meeting minutes, and change orders.
- Update as-built plans with changes, clarifications, and directives.
- Maintain logs for RFIs and change requests.
- Attend meetings with architects and owner representatives to observe project coordination.
- Learn company procedures and correspondence handling.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Construction Technology program.
- Ability to learn new skills and information quickly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Good self-organization and management habits.
- Prior commercial construction experience is helpful but not required.
- Willingness to participate in training, seminars, and team meetings.
- An expanding knowledge of construction details such as metals, casework, and doors.
