About the role#
Balfour Beatty is hiring a Project Engineer Intern for our Summer 2027 program in Oregon. This is a full-time, paid internship designed for students interested in construction management. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting project teams, learning internal procedures, and assisting with the daily operations of active construction sites.
What you'll do#
- Manage project budgets by controlling expenditures and coordinating owner and subcontractor billings.
- Identify work not covered by subcontractors and ensure office support for cost and schedule goals.
- Learn to coordinate Safety and Quality Control programs to address site problems.
- Review and process submittal data, shop drawings, and coordinate deliveries that affect the project schedule.
- Monitor status reports, meeting minutes, and change orders.
- Update as-built plans with changes, clarifications, and directives.
- Maintain logs for RFIs and change requests.
- Attend meetings with architects and owner representatives to observe project progress and reporting.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Construction Technology program.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to organize your work and manage tasks independently.
- Capacity to pick up new skills and information quickly.
- Participation in training, seminars, and team meetings.
- Knowledge of construction details regarding miscellaneous metals, casework, doors, and radiation protection is helpful.
- Prior commercial construction experience is preferred but not required.
