About the role#
The Public Relations intern joins our team to help plan, develop, and implement programs that communicate and measure the progress of the Baird brand. You will work directly with the Public Relations team and support the internal Communications team, collaborating across the Marketing and Communications department. This is a year-round position starting in May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Track coverage across our earned media program and measure impact against business strategies.
- Assist with media relations by drafting news releases and correspondence, building media lists, and coordinating reprints.
- Generate PR and communications reports using tracker dashboards.
- Partner with operations on strategic initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Coordinate news postings for our websites and social media accounts.
- Research for media relations purposes and fulfill reporter requests.
- Manage the creation and execution of internal news stories.
- Assist with communications for community involvement and sponsorship opportunities.
- Participate in monthly team and department meetings.
- Ensure all communications align with Baird practices, culture, and brand.
What you'll need#
- Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, business analytics, or a related field.
- Graduation date of May 2028 or later.
- Completed coursework in public relations, journalism, or communications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including editing and proofing.
- Organizational excellence and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Motivation, proactivity, and strategic thinking.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Prior PR experience is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- Modality: Hybrid, with four days per week in the office and one day remote.
- Schedule: Full-time (37.5 to 40 hours per week) during the summer and part-time (15 to 20 hours per week) during school semesters.
- Employment status: Paid internship.
