About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience within Baird’s Capital Markets division. You will join either the Compliance team or the Global Investment Banking team. The Compliance team focuses on regulatory technology and data solutions, while the Global Investment Banking team works on transforming complex data into insights for senior leadership. You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects that influence business decisions.
What you'll do#
- Partner with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable BI solutions.
- Design, develop, and test regulatory technology data solutions.
- Create data visualizations and solutions using SQL, Python, and Power BI.
- Contribute to data governance, documentation, and quality assurance efforts.
- Assist business users through training and self-service reporting support.
- Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to troubleshoot code and automate routine analytics tasks.
- Transform complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2028 or later.
- A strong academic record and a curiosity for applying technology to business problems.
- Experience with Python, SQL, and building reports in Power BI Desktop, including foundational DAX.
- Understanding of data modeling concepts like fact and dimension tables.
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake.
- Exposure to data governance best practices.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Some knowledge of financial markets is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid role based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, requiring three days per week in the office.
- The position is paid.
- You must be able to work full-time (37.5 to 40 hours per week) during the summer and part-time (15 to 20 hours per week) during school semesters.
