About the role#
We are looking for an AI/ML Research Intern to join our team and connect high-level research with physical actuation for our autonomous transport platforms. You will contribute to core research initiatives on World Models and Vision-Language-Action models. This role focuses on turning theoretical breakthroughs into scalable deployments on physical systems.
What you'll do#
- Research and develop RL and distillation techniques for trajectory planning.
- Integrate emerging research from the AI community and prototype new solutions.
- Design end-to-end multimodal models that translate real-time visual perception into vehicle actuation.
- Develop interactive world models from raw multi-sensor logs to simulate events and trajectory changes.
- Ensure autonomous driving models adapt to novel urban environments and edge cases.
- Partner with validation and research teams to run experiments through simulated scenarios.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, EECS, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field.
- Publications or submissions in top-tier machine learning or robotics venues.
- Graduate-level research background in one or more of the following: Generative World Models, Video Generation, Diffusion Models, Vision-Language-Action models, embodied AI, Reinforcement Learning, trajectory optimization, decision-making systems, or large-scale multimodal Transformer architectures.
- Advanced proficiency with PyTorch or JAX.
- Proficiency in Python and working knowledge of C++.
- Hands-on experience with Sensor Fusion across multi-camera setups, LiDAR, and Radar.
- Familiarity with Bird’s-Eye-View visual representations, 3D occupancy forecasting, multi-task learning, or data tokenization.
- Experience with large-scale distributed training on GPU/TPU clusters.
- Prior research or internship experience in autonomous driving, mobile robotics, or spatial AI.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship with a pay rate of $70 per hour.
- The role is based on-site in San Francisco or Mountain View, California, five days a week.
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
