About the role#
We are looking for a graduate student intern to support technical strategy and operations for our vehicle engineering team. You will own a defined workstream within one of our programs, managing the plan, milestones, dependencies, risks, and weekly readouts for engineering leadership. This role is hands-on and requires regular time in the garage and on the production floor working alongside engineers and technicians.
What you'll do#
- Own the plan for a specific workstream, such as a build, bench, supplier transition, fleet readiness milestone, or process rollout.
- Maintain milestones, dependencies, risks, and open actions.
- Publish a weekly status readout to engineering leadership including progress, blockers, and recommendations.
- Prepare the weekly triage and track updates from owners.
- Support vehicle builds by managing build readiness, parts and kitting status, work instructions, and issue capture on the floor.
- Pull quotes, lead times, cost data, and fleet data to build comparisons for engineering decisions.
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, fleet operations, and finance to move your workstream forward.
- Identify bottlenecks, propose fixes, implement solutions, and measure results.
What you'll need#
- Current graduate student in an MBA, engineering master's, or a related program like operations or supply chain management.
- Prior background in vehicles or mobility, such as automotive, EV, autonomous vehicles, or heavy equipment.
- Comfort with technical material including build plans, test reports, and BOMs.
- Experience owning a deliverable through to completion against a schedule.
- Ability to work in a garage and on a production floor.
- Ability to commit 15-20 hours per week during the academic term.
Location & details#
- This role is located in San Francisco, California.
- You must be able to work onsite five days a week.
- This is a paid internship at a base starting rate of $56.00 per hour.
