Astranis is seeking a Hardware Design Intern for the Software Defined Radio team for the Fall 2026 term. This is a full-time, hourly, on-site position based in San Francisco, California. Interns will contribute to meaningful projects, with the opportunity to design and test hardware that may be integrated into spacecraft.
What you'll do#
- Design, simulate, implement, and test internally developed software defined radio hardware.
- Perform hardware bring-up and debugging in the lab using professional equipment.
- Write code to evaluate hardware performance and automate testing processes.
- Integrate radio systems into the spacecraft through collaboration with the broader engineering team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test PCBA hardware from scratch, such as through student design teams, competitions, or personal projects.
- A solid foundation in one or more of the following: analog design, digital design, mixed signal design, or RF design.
- A passion for hands-on hardware development.
- Bonus qualifications include experience with Altium Designer, analysis software like ADS or Matlab, Python programming, soldering, and familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.

- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Compensation: $29.00 per hour.
- Requirements: To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
