About the role#
This is a paid summer internship for students interested in Energy Management Systems. You will join the Digital Grid Management team in Medina, Minnesota. The role focuses on helping transmission utilities monitor and operate electric grids safely and reliably. You will work on real projects, collaborate with a cohort of other interns, and present your final results to senior leadership at the end of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Configure and test EMS or ADMS applications for customer deployments.
- Support power system modeling and validate data.
- Build scripts or tools to automate testing and data analysis.
- Create documentation and training materials for power systems applications.
- Attend customer meetings to learn about project delivery processes.
What you'll need#
- Working toward a BS in Electrical Engineering, specifically in Power Systems or a related field.
- Interest or coursework in power systems, electric circuits, or energy systems.
- Strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with dedication and persistence.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Python, or Linux/Windows is a plus.
- Knowledge of power flow, electrical transmission, or SCADA systems is helpful but not required.

- Modality: Hybrid (4 days in-office, 1 day remote).
