PID Engineering Diagram Intern

About the role#

The PID Engineering Diagram Intern will work on-site at our manufacturing facility in East Providence, Rhode Island. This role involves collaborating with Process Safety, Reliability, and Process Engineering teams to maintain and improve P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams) while supporting automation and control system initiatives.

What you'll do#

• Maintain and improve P&IDs by conducting site walkthroughs and collecting data from field equipment.
• Develop and update Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure accurate Process Safety Information (PSI).
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize control systems and enhance manufacturing processes.
• Monitor and analyze key performance metrics related to automation and control systems to drive data-based plant performance improvements.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to identify and communicate daily priorities and production changes.
• Provide troubleshooting support to isolate issues and guide corrective actions for field devices, electrical systems, and control platforms.
• Present updates to leadership and stakeholders regarding the progress of initiatives, including successes and potential solutions.

What you'll need#

• Minimum of 2 years completed towards a 4-year bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related science discipline.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for presenting information and resolving problems across multiple disciplines.
• Knowledge of regulations and standards relevant to safety and engineering in hazardous industrial environments.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with ISA standards and chemical manufacturing is preferred; experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
