About the role#
The ASPCA is looking for a Veterinary Student Ambassador at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. This role connects you with peers and professionals in animal welfare while you represent the organization on campus. You will act as a primary point of contact for students interested in our work and resources.
What you'll do#
- Represent the ASPCA at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.
- Build relationships with veterinary students and relevant student groups.
- Provide information to peers regarding externship opportunities and career pathways.
- Assist with the logistical planning and execution of campus events, including workshops and career fairs.
- Develop written communications about upcoming events and ASPCA initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison to the ASPCA Campus Relations Senior Manager.
- Maintain academic excellence and follow all school policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a veterinary student at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.
- Good academic standing.
- Active membership in at least one student group related to animal welfare or shelter medicine.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of professionalism.
- Access to a computer for meetings and email.
- Ability to store promotional items for campus distribution.
- You must not currently serve as a student ambassador for another animal welfare organization or non-profit.
- A strong belief in the mission and core values of the ASPCA.
Location & details#
- This is a remote, part-time position.
- You will need to dedicate an average of 3 hours per week.
- Compensation is $20 per hour.
- You are eligible for up to $1,000 in reimbursement for travel and lodging costs for the annual SAVMA Symposium.
- The term is two semesters with the potential to extend.
